First, I listened to "Traveling"-Meredith Monk and interpreted it with colored papers and a scissors. The music was played by piano and sometimes with a instrument that makes a sound of cockroach creeping. I interpreted high pitch sound, loud sound(dynamics) and constant melody. In the art below I used many elements and principles of art, such as contrast, shapes, lines.
Next, I listened to Steve Reich-different train:After the War and interpreted it with wool. The music was mainly played by cello and I think the music was divided into parts and each part had different repetition of low melody. I used color contrast, line, space, texture to create the composition below.
Next I listened to Anton Webern-Variation for Pianoand interpreted it with color pen. The music was mainly played by piano and it sounded like random notes played randomly. There was no melody. I used size, space, colour and shape to create art work below and express randomness of the music.
I learnt that abstract art is used to express something that is not visible and that invisible things such as sound could be interpreted by line and shapes. I also understood that there are various way to create abstract art.
