Task:Musical Art Workshop
1. Collage materials to investigate textural surfaces on a sculpture. Which materials would you select?

- Polka-dotted cloth
- Orange feather
- Something silver
- Yellow cloth
This texture is based on music played by students in music class. This texture could be used on walls and clothes if making sculpture of building or a person.
2. Foil as a blue print for sculpture. Interpret the music or interpret an experiment you have created.
I interpreted music using foil and a wire. Three hone in the right hand side represents the notes and tangled wire represents different melodies.
interpreting music 3D
Today, we started to lear about abstract sculpture. First we listened to an odd music and then interpret it in 3D using papers to understand what abstract sculture is.. Below is the sculpture I made.
I used sharp shapes and zigzag to represent high pitch sound and I used bright colours to express loudness.

Abstract artwork
- Listen to music and interpret the music in forms of abstract art.
The music I represented is "Sun Goes Down", dance music composed by David Guetta. The instruments used in the composition are guitar, Synthesizer, Ukulele and many other electronic instruments. Colours that I chose to use are red, brown, yellow, orange because the composition contains some classical elements and electronic sound that makes me feel something red. My interpretations are instinctive, meaning that the color/shape I used is random.

Interpreting two music
1
Sun goes down feat. Magic! & Sony Wilson by David Guetta
The music is a dance music and is played by guitar and electronic sounds, which I don't know what the names are. I draw the picture using pencil.
2
I expressed sound of wind by abstract art. As wind doesn't have any melody or pitch, it was quite difficult to interpret.

Reflect on your learning in class. Include the Objective/Inquiry Question and then write your response
Inquiry Question: Why should we create art that is non-representational? How can we communicate through abstraction

First, I listened to "Traveling"-Meredith Monk and interpreted it with colored papers and a scissors. The music was played by piano and sometimes with a instrument that makes a sound of cockroach creeping. I interpreted high pitch sound, loud sound(dynamics) and constant melody. In the art below I used many elements and principles of art, such as contrast, shapes, lines.
Next, I listened to Steve Reich-different train:After the War and interpreted it with wool. The music was mainly played by cello and I think the music was divided into parts and each part had different repetition of low melody. I used color contrast, line, space, texture to create the composition below.
Next I listened to Anton Webern-Variation for Pianoand interpreted it with color pen. The music was mainly played by piano and it sounded like random notes played randomly. There was no melody. I used size, space, colour and shape to create art work below and express randomness of the music.
I learnt that abstract art is used to express something that is not visible and that invisible things such as sound could be interpreted by line and shapes. I also understood that there are various way to create abstract art.
